Ratings you can trust
All accommodation on this website has been inspected (or has applied to be inspected) by VisitBritain or the Automobile Association. Both organisations use the same system which is based on clearly defined quality gradings, not only of facilities provided, but also quality of experience - décor, atmosphere and, above all, service.
What the ratings mean
- 1 star: Simple, practical, no frills.
- 2 stars: Well presented and well run.
- 3 stars: Good level of quality and comfort.
- 4 stars: Excellent standard throughout
- 5 stars: Exceptional with a degree of luxury
- Awaiting inspection: These establishments have applied for their quality grading but are waiting to be inspected.
Gold and silver awards

Walkers and cyclists welcome
These awards indicate establishments that offer special facilities for walkers and cyclists. These include space for drying clothes and footwear, information regarding useful contacts and weather and additional services for the provision of food and refreshments.
