Visit Hebden Bridge

find the perfect place to stay and discover what there is to see and do in Hebden Bridge

A great place to visit for a day trip or short break, you will find some wonderful places to stay in Hebden bridge, making it the perfect base for you to explore and discover all there is to see and do in the area.

Walk past the cafés, wine bars and delis in pedestrianised Bridge Gate or watch a juggler at work in St George's Square and you'll begin to understand why Hebden Bridge has a reputation as one of the country's most attractive small towns.   Almost all the shops you pass will be independents (the New Economics Foundation recently declared that the town had the least-cloned High Street in the country).  Hebden Bridge was also recently awarded the unusual accolade of being the fourth funkiest town in the world (it was apparently pipped by even funkier destinations in Australia, Brazil and the US).

Hebden Bridge is avowedly green, too. Don't ask for a plastic bag:  the community has taken a stand against them, though trendy fair-trade cotton alternatives are available, for example, at the canal-side Alternative Technology Centre, which as well as hosting exhibitions on sustainable energy generation has a well-stocked Green Shop.

Just to the north, the National Trust's Gibson Mill in beautiful Hardcastle Crags is completely self-sufficient in energy, using power from water turbines and photo-voltaic cells. Gibson Mill hosts an exhibition on its approach to energy generation, as well as the popular Muddy Boots café.
