Dewsbury Minster
You'll find All Saints Minster Church, in the centre of Dewsbury, close to the bus station. It is open for worship of God and for study of the Christian Faith, on Sundays and at advertised times during the week. It is also open to visitors every weekday from 0930-1430.
There is a Refectory where food and drinks are served, and a Heritage Centre where the visitor can learn something of the long history of the Minster as part of the Church of England since St Paulinus in AD 627.
The Christian Faith, the reason for the Minster's existence, can also be found explained in the Herigate Centre, in simple but life enriching terms. The Paulinus Chapel on the first floor is available when the Minster is open, for private prayer in meditation.
The Minster, with all its rich heritage which includes many Anglo Saxon artifacts, has recently been appointed as the Christian centre for the North Kirklees Inter-Faith Project, part of a national project to promote greater understanding of the UK's rich cultural diversity particularly for the benefit of school age children.
